Vörös-kő

A short loop trail to Vörös-kő (521 m), one of the most beautiful panoramic peaks in the Visegrád Mountains and the Danube Bend, starting from Leányfalu on the banks of the Danube. Towering above Leányfalu, Vörös-kő undoubtedly offers the most stunning panorama and is an easily accessible peak between Szentendre and Visegrád.
The town’s picturesque beauty has inspired even our ancestors. It’s no coincidence that former holiday home owner Ferenc Karinthy (son of Frigyes Karinthy) wrote about it, calling it ‘the center of the known universe’.
This old, beloved holiday destination, situated in the triangle formed by Vörös-kő, Nyerges-hegy, and the Danube, can be reached from Budapest via main road 11. The Visegrád Mountains, geologically significantly different from the Pilis, boast a richer hydrography thanks to their volcanic structure.
Surface runoff from precipitation has carved deep valleys into the mountains over millennia (Apátkúti Valley, Rám Gorge, Holdvilág Ravine).
